Dwelling on the past only makes you more miserable

Many people have a tendency to dwell on the events that have come before. This is something that they drag around as extra emotional baggage in their life and generally these people are not the happiest of individuals.

By constantly dwelling on the failings of the past, they bring them into the present and it can really affect their happiness level. What is fascinating is that some people simply don’t do this and these people are those who manage to live in the moment and enjoy a great deal more happiness.

There are many very simple ways in which people can achieve happiness and they should realise that it is not something out of their reach. Interestingly, one of the most positive steps you can take to achieving happiness is to simply refuse to let your brain think unhappy thoughts.

Many people are unhappy because they are consistently worrying about things but this is something that can also be easily tackled. You should change your mindset from being one of a worrier, to one of the planner.

While the worrier will fret about things and do very little to change them, the planner will realise what the problem is and work out a way to deal with it. The planner is the much more logical person simply because they take control of their worries, they experience a great deal more happiness.

Someone who worries will always go over all their failings and think that they are something that cannot be changed. The person who plans will take a very different approach, they will see their failings and recognise them, but they will plan out ways for them to change themselves. The planner realises that things can be done in order to improve their situation, they just have to work out how to do it.
